It's not over tonight!

It's not over tonight! (kanta! Haha!)

~Seniors, sana hindi sa grads magtapos ang ugnayan ng buong batch. Keep in touch :)~

Maganda ang grads namen, wasak! Haha! Ambigat ng leeg ko, ampf. Sakit pa ng binti't paa ko, 140 'yun noh. Segeh, mga graduates lang ang nakakaalam.

For titas and titos and lolas and lolos and ninangs and ninongs, here is my speech :)

Mrs. Consolacion F. Mallonga, our beloved directress; Sir Peter, the school chancellor, Dr. Leo Danny F. Mallonga, co-chair of the board of trustees, Ma'am Agnes and Ma'am Kyen, members of the Management Committee, Mrs. Ana Marie Nobleza, our principal; dearest teachers, beloved parents, guests and fellow graduates, ladies and gentlemen, Good Evening.

I would like to start by thanking my mentors for the knowledge they imparted on me and thank God for giving me the wisdom to understand. But above all the academic subjects, the best knowledge a school can teach its students are the lessons in life. Above all these lessons, for me these three would stand out. These are words, phrases that will forever be with me as I embark into the next level of higher consciousness and set out to acquire a profession. One of these is the motto our dearest Directress would never fail to mention in every opening of classes, “Do the right thing, at the right time, in the right place, with the right person, and everything will turn out right for you”. It's pretty wordy, I know. Some people may not be able to memorize it if it's their first time to hear it. Others, they won't understand it at all. So let me shorten it into two words, “Exercise prudence”. Prudence is a cardinal virtue, which is the ability to judge between virtuous and vicious actions, not only in a general sense, but with regards to appropriate actions at a given time and place.

I've learned how to be R.E.D. or Responsible, Excellent and Disciplined but I wouldn't have to explain that because it's stated in every tarpaulin IJA puts up. Well, they say these are the qualities that make IJAians stand out. Whenever we are outside the school, these core values are being perceived by others. In my case, I'm seldom outside. I am a student who's life revolves around school then house then school then house . So does that mean they would seldom see those core values in me? Maybe or maybe not . I may never have been the outgoing one who will be present in parties or in the mall, hanging out with friends and making “tambay”. But, the school made me an outgoing person, a productive one. I've been to Teenpreneur, National Youth Congress, Leadership Trainings, Writing Contests, National Quiz Bees and aside from these contests, I've been to clean-up drives and outreach programs. These are my “gimmicks” and I can say they were worth the time I spent on them. They are not just for fun but they are also fulfilling and that fulfillment isn't only felt by me, but also by my parents, the school and those others that we've helped. That I think is the purpose of why we live, to grow hand in hand with others. I tried to be the person my parents want me to be, a man for others, or in my case a woman, or a girl. Just call me a lady. I believe that the value of a person is not how long they have lived but it is the number of lives that they have touched and made better. Anyway, in those times that I'm outside the school doing those that I've mentioned, I tried my very best to be R.E.D., while wearing blue.

Lastly, I've learned that I wouldn't have to be perfect to achieve a lot. I just have to try to do my best to be the best. But still, I'm not the best in everything. I make mistakes, a lot of mistakes, and sometimes others will go ahead of me in the run because of these mistakes. But they never held me down. Instead, they challenged me to be a better person and forced me to improve myself. Up to now, I can't really say that I'm the wittiest kid in this whole batch. Maybe, I'm just hardworking and all the hard work that I've done in my past years paid now. I give my whole heart on the things I do. Maybe that helped.

To my fellow graduates, this Commencement marks the start of new challenges and the beginning of our journey to our chosen profession. My advice would be to always aim for the bullseye so that if you miss, you wouldn't be far off the target. There is nothing bad in being no.2 or even no. 10 unless there is only 10 of you in the class. So dream BIG and if you succeed, remember that IJA molded you.

Before I end, I would like to thank my sponsor, which is the school nonetheless. Thank you for granting me a scholarship in my 4 years of study here in Infant Jesus Academy.

To the Parents and Guardians, congratulations. Hope you like the chosen profession and college or university of your child. If not, well you have to work it amongst yourselves. Magic word there would be “COMPROMISE”.

And thank you, LORD for the honor that you bestowed upon me.

Once again, good evening and I wish you all a pleasant night.

ONA,,mayabang na ako,,hahaha!
